Astonishing X-Men #1, Thor #21, Clue #2, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #17 and more – Comic Load – 7/19/2017

It’s comic book day! What’s your load look like?

The Mighty Thor #21 – The War Thor makes his presence known. Damn he’s a badass!
X-Men Gold #8 – New York has been locked in a dark dimension bubble and there’s a Mutant serial killer on the loose in the mansion. But the ending to this issue really resonates well with what is happening in the current political climate of the US. Damn.
Superwoman #8 – Lana’s powers are fully explained and I am quite happy that they come from within. They are not a bi-product of her suit.
Supergirl #11 – Kara and Batgirl escape from the Phantom Zone. Of course over in Action Comics, she was put right back in, but that’s another story.
Superman #27 – Superman and the family take a family vacation. I’m sure this will all go smoothly. Although it does go pretty darn smoothly in this first issue.
Clue #2 – Another death has taken place. Who is the killer? My bet is on the narrator/butler. Nah, that’s why too obvious.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #17 – It’s a nice relaxing issue with the Rangers going back to their home life. Except Jason has been staying at the command center all the time. What’s going on with him?
Astonishing X-Men #1 – A old psychic adversary makes his return in the X-Men universe. He also has a strange ally/captive. This was unexpected.

  1. The War Thor is a total badass. Even his beard is tough. It seems like the hammer exert some influence over their wielders. It will be interesting to see if this is explored in the future. The whole “you had the power all along” part of Superwoman got on my nerves but otherwise it was a pretty good issue. That last page reveal in Astonishing X-Men was cool but I’ll wait to see what they do with that in future issues. I did enjoy the Gambit/Fantomex team-up but am not a fan of Beast being a part of the team. I’ve been reading Secret Empire and it is a huge bunch of “meh”. Unfortuately it looks like Marvel Legacy won’t be any better. I really don’t understand what’s up with Marvel these days.
