It’s comic book day! My favorite day of the week. This time we have Walking Dead #164 with Rick and his people about to be over whelmed by hordes of walkers surrounding their establishments. Star Wars #28 has Yoda learning new force tricks and completely going out on his own on a Jedi mission with no other Jedi in site. Darth Maul #1 – My favorite Sith starts out on his own adventure before Episode 1 and shows how much of a badass he really is. Nightwing #14 establishes Dick Grayson as THE superhero in Blüdhaven. Plus he has a glorious ass. Batman #16 – Batman starts a war with Bane over possession of the Psycho Pirate. Bane makes the first strike and it is pretty darn severe. All New X-Men #18 – Cyclops comes to grips with his future self being a douchebag. That’s about it. Finally is Back to the Future – Biff to the Future #1 – This is the beginning of the alternate universe from when Biff gained the Sports Almanac and became a rich powerful man. It is a very dark!

A couple weeks ago I picked up the trade paperback of Cryptozoic Man after seeing it being advertised on a past season of AMC’s Comic Book Men. I love the show. I know it is scripted reality, but it is entertaining to see some of the toys and comics being brought in and showcased. The comic was written by Bryan Johnson and illustrated by Walter Flanagan of that show. The idea centers around a man who is stitched together with different mythological monsters of the modern world. Like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. Each is a guardian of a nexus port to other dimensions. To say the least, it is a very unique comic book. It is quite confusing and the non-linear story telling leaves a lot of questions for the reader. Check out my thoughts on the comic series in the video below.

The comic book is available at: Dynamite Comics

It’s comic book day! Lots of great comics came out this week.

Superman Action Comics #972 – Lex and Superman become uneasy allies and forget past issues.
Wonder Woman #15 has Princess Diana in a mental health hospital. She has lost it after finding out that her past is completely a lie.
Batman Beyond #4 – Terry gets his new costume and it is pretty fracking cool!
Steve Rogers Captain America #10 – Steve’s origin with being a secret Hydra Agent is being explored more with his background before the super soldier serum.
Hulk #2 – Jennifer Walters is struggling with her own anger issues and is also trying not to ‘Hulk Out’ with the problems she’s face in her personal life.
Inhumans vs X-Men #3- The X-Men have made the first strike. Now the Inhumans are going to make the next strike in this war.
Star Wars #27 – A Yoda backstory before Episode I. Anything Yoda is cool!
Thanos #3 – Thanos is dying. He is also attacked by the Shi’ar Imperial Guard and totally has his ass handed to him. It was awesome!

The Ray is back in the DC Universe and will be joining the Justice League of America. This one-shot issue serves as a new origin and a coming out story for the Ray, also known as Raymond Terrill. Grant Morrison re-envisioned the character as being a gay man in the Multiversity story and this translated over into the main DC Universe. Raymond has been absent mostly from the DC Universe in the past couple of years. This issue has writer Steve Orlando re-telling a great coming of age superhero story that keeps many of his basic roots from the former DC Universe while also re-imagining other aspects. Artist Stephen Byrne illustrates each panel great with an almost cartoon vibe coming from it. Great issue and spectacular way to usher in a character that will be deservedly part of a heroic superhero team in the DC Universe.

The 4th issue of the He-Man/Thundercats crossover is out. Prince Adam has died from wounds inflicted by Mumm-Ra. Lion-O takes it upon himself to try and save the Prince of Eternia, which blows up in his face because it causes He-Man to go insane. We finally get a battle between the King of the Thundercats and the Most Powerful Man in the Universe. It is epic!

The X-Men make thei real hardcore attack against the Attilan city. Batman #15 has Batman have one more night with Catwoman. Captain America Sam Wilson #18 has Sam face a morale dilemma of releasing a video that shows how brutal the AmeriCorps really are. Trinity #5 has the main big three against Mongul…in a dream! Never did I think that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers would ever cross over into the DC Universe, but writer Tom Taylor and artist Stephen Byrne do just that! This first issue has a huge catastrophe take place that is set 36 hours in the future with Superman consoling Zack, the Black Ranger for something that has occurred. We soon see that there was an event taking place between the Justice League and the Power Rangers that has lead to an epic journey.

USAvengers #1 – Another #1 from Marvel It is nice to see the New Mutants together briefly and I always love Red Hulk. But stop with the number #1’s.
Batman #14 – Catwoman and Batman have one last night together before she has to be re-incarcerated. They make it a great last night.
NIghtwing #12 – Dick continues to establish himself in Bloodhaven with Orca making an appearance.
Sam Wilson Captain America #17 – Rage and the new Falcon make their team dynamics known.
Walking Dead #162 – The Whisperer War is over. But Rick and his people have a lot more to fear than that.
Superman #14 – Some alien entities are collecting Supermen from alternate dimensions. Out Superman aims to stop that.
Finally in The Unworthy Thor #3 – Odinson has warrior madness briefly and fights his best friend, Beta Ray Bill. Great story and soon more will be revealed from the Ultimate Thor’s hammer that has yet to be unclaimed.

I cannot do this book justice by a long shot. Love is Love is an anthology comic book published as a joint effort with IDW and DC Comics. This book is a combination of numerous contributing artists and writers all creating individual short 1 to 2 page stories that serve as tribute to the victims of the Orlando Pulse attack that took place on June 12, 2016. This book had me crying from page one with the listing of all 49 people that died as a result of this shooting. The book itself has such a deeper meaning with the central theme of love being the main focus. It is a great book and I recommend everyone take the time to read through all of the stories donated to this book. The proceeds of this book will benefit the victims, survivors, and family of those that were lost. Have a box of tissue read, it is a tearjerker.

A great place to purchase a digital copy of this book is at: www.Comixology.com

It’s comic book day! So many great comics came out today. I could not get to all of them, but here’s what I did get to read.
Star Wars #26 – A back story with Yoda is always awesome!
Civil War II #8 – The Conclusion to this Marvel epic title is finally finished.
Hulk #1 – Jennifer Walters is taking the title of the Hulk after the death of her cousin Bruce Banner in the Civil War II story.
Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corp #11 – Hal is finally going to meet up with the rest of the Green Lantern Corp after Larfleeze has captured all of them.
Spider-Man #11 – Miles Morales dad is an agent of SHIELD and is probably going to go back into action.
Wonder Woman #13 – Diana is not taking her backstory being fake very well. She has gone into a crazy state that will affect her next storyline.
Batman Beyond #3 – Terry is under cover as a Joker Gang member, but we discover something very huge in the conclusion of this issue.
Detective Comics #947 – We get a glimpse of what happened to Tim Drake. Not much, but I’ll take it! We need a return of this character back to the DC Universe.
