Kris Marshall has been rumored to be the new actor to take on the role of our favorite Timelord, the Doctor. I see nothing but criticism and outrage by fans everywhere. Personally I want a huge change and I am hoping for a person of color or even a female Doctor. Or maybe an out gay actor like Russell Tovey to be the time traveling hero, but I know that would most likely not be the case this time around. So hearing the rumor that Kris Marshall was selected, I was disappointed. Then immediately I had to go to the Google machine since I had no idea who he was. I then moved on, because as far as I can tell, it is just a rumor right now. But others don’t seem to be doing that. I’ll give him a chance if he is in fact cast in the role, but I’m seeing some pretty darn hateful things online about this selection. I am curious, why is he such a bad candidate? I know some of you have to be Whovians and can give me better details. What is it that is so bad that every hates him so badly?

Kris Marshall was very very funny in a British sitcom called “My Family”. After that, i think he did a police/detective procedural but i didn’t see any of those. He was also funny in the British version of “death at a funeral”. He might be fine as the Doctor. I want a gay male companion! Though i’m loving Bill after just two episodes.
He has the derp look in his eyes of the Fifth Doctor, but I dunno. I’m with you, Paulie, on wanting a change for the new Doctor. Something old, something new, someone of a different ethnicity, maybe?
Or, just a Doctor who’s having a “gay” ol’ time.

We don’t know for sure that Kris Marshall is the new Doctor so I think all the outrage is jumping the gun. I understand that they want a more diverse Doctor and not another white guy. I’m sure it will happen eventually. I would’ve loved to see Idris Elba become the Doctor. I don’t know anything about Kris Marshall but I will give him a chance. All of the previous actors since the return have been great.
