Some Rick and Morty Fans REALLY Want That Szechuan Sauce from McDonalds

If you are a fan of Rick and Morty, then you know at the beginning of the 3rd season, Rick Sanchez made a big deal about the limited time release of the Chicken McNugget Szechuan sauce. This was done in 1998 as a promotional release for the Disney movie – Mulan. This was just meant as a joke. However, after some lobbying, McDonalds decided to RE-release the sauce in limited quantities for one day, on 10/7/2017 in certain McDonalds. Turns out, they did not release enough, by a long shot.

The official release was: On Oct 7, together with the collectible sauce-themed posters, we’re also giving away a one-time only, limited-edition, run of Szechuan Sauce in select restaurants. And when we say limited, we mean really, really limited! Click below to find out which restaurants will be giving away* the posters, and the select few of those that will also have the Szechuan Sauce on Oct 7.

Apparently restaurants were only given 20 packets or less, and there was lots of conspiracies that many McDonald’s staff took the sauces themselves. The listings on Ebay show outrageous prices for the sauce that are ridiculous. However the reactions of some of the fans who waited in long lines, for a sauce, are even crazier.

McDonalds has heard the outcry and released a new statement on their official Twitter page. They apparently will release the sauce yet again, only make it more available. No actual date was given, just during the winter at some point. The Tweet is below.

I admit that I’m curious as to what the sauce tastes like, but to be honest, waiting in line for hours is something that I would not do. Also to protest and riot over a sauce was over the line. I am a huge Rick an Morty fan and I have to laugh at how outraged some people are over this. With that being said, when the sauce is available without waiting in long lines, I will try it for myself. Below is a McDonalds in LA that someone filmed.
