The Muppets Return and the One Million Moms Group is Against It …YAY!!! That Means everyone watch it!

Muppet Show

With a lot of hype over the past several months, The Muppets premiere today, 9/22/2015 on ABC. Many of the promos have shown more adult tendencies towards its characters that appeal to a wide range of audiences. More specifically towards adults, but still having a lot of the basic child characteristics that originally made the Muppets so popular in the first place.

Unfortunately not everyone is excited about this new rendition of Jim Henson’s creations having a new show. The organization known as the organization known as One Million Moms who have been shown to be vastly conservative in the past regarding all forms of media and advertisements, released this statement about the Muppets premiere:

“ABC hopes children watch the show and predict they would enjoy some of the humor, but 1MM would disagree. It is not the show it once was. ABC has ruined “The Muppets.” How many parents want to explain the punchline of sexually charged jokes to young children?
Many parents unknowingly will let their children watch an episode only to find out its perverted nature too late, unless they are alerted ahead of time. 1MM and others need to get the word out to families to avoid this program at all costs.”

Miss Piggy

With that being said, the One Million Mom (1MM?) literally just informed all kids of the show that their parents do NOT want them to watch, even though the factor of the show being about Muppets already gave them a bit of notability but also gave a huge amounts of publicity to a fledgling show that may have had doubts to its success. Way to go One Million Moms! You just helped secure the success of this show.

Gonzo

Let’s be clear, the Muppets will be more adult, somewhat. Sexual references will be made, that’s been clear. Relationships will also be made, and from the promos, it looks like Kermit may be in the center of several issues that many adults have been a part of from the beginning of forever. Current events will be discussed and the drama of politics may even be brought up. But this is a prime time TV show. What did 1MM think was going to happen? This show does not appear to be geared towards young children anyway. It is on at during Primetime and looks like it is geared towards adults, young adults and teenagers. Regardless though, if younger children were to watch the show, is it so awful that parents actually TALK to their children about some of these references and explain what is being discussed?

Statler and Waldorf

On another note, this will not be the play Avenue Q and I do not think that we will see Muppets have sex on screen. More than likely, Kermit and the gang will be in some sexual situations but actual sex shown on a non-cable TV show, very unlikely. Innuendos will more than likely be made, but is that new? Innuendos have been done on TV on both adult and kid’s shows, again, since forever. Look at the Flintstones, look at Animaniancs, look any any cartoon from any kids show made in this century. It is going to happen.

I am excited to see the Muppets and I am watching the show tonight! Are you going to watch it or do you have it DVR’d to watch later? Usually I do not watch stuff live, but I have a strange motivation to watch it right away for some reason.

  1. These stupid ignorant women!! LOL!!! The Muppets first started out on Saturday Night Live which is late night television!! These are women that desperately either need more dick in their lives; should be raising their children and not worrying about other parents’ jobs or yea just need more dick.

  2. What the fuck?!

Has anyone in this organization EVER watched any Muppet material before? The Muppets have ALWAYS relied on innuendo humor! There’s loads of material where one or more characters talk about something, or make a joke, that had sexual or controversial undertones. That goes back to the fucking 70s!

Sheesh. *hangs head, but then laughs* Well, at least they’re back on the upswing, and with the Big Idiot Group protesting it, people WILL watch. Just as you’ve stated.
