Today, October 21, 2016, is Wonder Woman Day. Besides this year being the 75th Anniversary of Wonder Woman being introduced, both Linda Carter and Gal Gadot, former and present Wonder Women, are present at the United Nations to witness Wonder Woman becoming an Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls. Both actresses visited the United Nations in support of Sustainable Development Goal 5, which is to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls everywhere. Wonder Woman has inspired people everywhere to overcome so many obstacles in life. Women in general face oppression and continually must fight to be seen as equals in all facets of media, including comic books. Wonder Woman is by far the most famous comic book female superhero of all time and is arguably one of the strongest characters ever created, both in power levels and personality. It is fitting that her character be honored on her 75th Anniversary at the United Nations. Recently DC writer Greg Rucka has confirmed that the women of Paradise Island, and Wonder Woman herself, is bisexual. This was very common knowledge among any reader who had even a small inkling of background on the fictitious island of all women living together for centuries. But it was nice to finally hear it out loud.
Princess Diana has shifted from time to time in her beliefs and her defined background has been altered depending on the writer and current developments within the DC Comic Book Universe. But one thing for me that is always true – She is a symbol of hope, power and equality.
DC Comics has made an official animated movie similar to the way Batman and Superman were honored on their 75th Anniversaries as well. The video below is quite awesome and definitely shows the ups and downs of the Amazon Princess throughout her superhero career. Check out it out when you get a chance.

The Wonder Woman TV show was my gateway into comic books. She is one of my favorite characters. A lot of who I am and strive to be is due to Wonder Woman. I am so happy that she is being honored by the United Nations. I can’t wait for the movie come out. That video was incredible and I’m glad they showed all of the Wonder Women (Orana, Artemis, Hippolyta, Superwoman, Donna Troy). Hopefully she’ll continue to inspire for another 75 years.
