Tilda Swinton could be the Ancient One in the Dr. Stange Movie

Yes, apparently, Tilda Swinton may be the Ancient One in the upcoming Marvel Studios – Dr. Strange movie. This is interesting and I am unsure how I feel about this.

Swinton is an incredible actress and it wouldn’t be the first time that she’s been part of a sci-fi role. She was once an angel and played Gabriel in the Constantine movie.

I like the idea of the ancient one being a woman, but I also feel like the Ancient One should be an Asian actor. If you are unaware, the Ancient One is the former Sorcerer Supreme that instructed Dr. Strange in the mystical arts and was portrayed in the comics as an Asian man.

Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) is set to be the actual Dr. Strange, which I FULLY support this casting. Dr. Strange himself is suppose to be the greatest practitioner of magic in our realm and is the protector of our world. The Ancient One may or may not even be a major character in the movie as the story may not include much of the actual training aspect and the Ancient One may simply be part of some of the flashbacks. Right now any guess is possible.

What do you think? Is this good or do you think that Marvel fracked with this character casting?

  1. i think at least the Ancient One should be Asian. i also think it should be a dude no offense to Tilda Swinton.

  2. I don’t have anything against the actress or against the Ancient One being female. I actually approve of this change.

HOWEVER, like you, I still feel the character should be Asian. I also feel that the character should be played by an older actress. But that’s just me. I’m sure Swinton could handle the role.
