X-Men – Did they actually get it right, at the end?

Entertainment Weekly has shown new pics of the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse movie slated to be released next year. I’m really impressed with how good the costumes look. I mean we get a Psylocke with her bright purple ninja outfit from the 90’s. Magneto looks way more like Magneto.

Ivan Ooze

But what I’m the most impressed with is that we actually get a Storm that looks like Storm. And we have Storm with her mohawk!!! How fracking cool is that! She went through a wild phase in the 80’s and became very rambunctious and rebelled against her calmer side. She returned to this look recently in the comics too. Other than her 90’s Jim Lee look, this is definitely the coolest Storm. She even lost her powers for a time and was still able to kick Cyclop’s ass and take leadership away from him for a while. Good times!

It’s a shame that it took this long to get costumes and the looks of the X-Men down in this movie. It has been labeled as being the last X-Men movie before they reboot the universe. Which actually seems like they already did reboot the universe, but whatever. I know Hugh Jackman has stated that he may not be coming back to the role again after this movie, unless it is to continue another role as Old Man Logan (long story, if you don’t know it, it’s not important right now). Maybe it could or couldn’t happen. I’ll just enjoy the ride and pretend that no other X-Movie came before this.

Anyways, what do you think? I’m very impressed with it so far myself. I don’t know why they replaced Apocalypse with Ivan Ooze from the Power Rangers, but I can still live with that too. Maybe he will look more impressive on the screen when the movie is done.

  1. I like that Psylocke has purple hair in this, and that the costumes look good. Storm’s costume, though… Less so, but I won’t bitch that much so long as the character is done justice in the film.

And yes, maybe there is just a tiny bit of Ivan Ooze in Apocalypse for this film. I find it kinda hilarious, though.
