It really makes me feel good that there are more and more commercials out there that include same sex couples. Gay people make up a significant portion of the market for consumer goods and seeing commercials that actually include our demographic is really heart warming. We are no where near being equal in social status in relation to media as our heterosexual brothers and sisters, but the gap is closing a little more every day. I imagine the One Million Mom hate group will be against this commercial once they see it and realize that it is out just in time for the holidays. I am sure that group will be upset because a gay couple is being shown as being accepted into the family. I can’t wait to see their hissy fit!
Also, if you have not seen it yet, check out this Campbell Soup ad below. The One Million Mom bigots (or a couple dozen bored housewives) also had a problem with this soup ad because it normalized two gay dads feeding their son soup while imitating Darth Vader. Again, this commercial was beautiful and even brought a tear to my eye when I saw it. To see something so wonderful as two fathers caring for their son and to see it as a commercial, it’s just great. I cannot even begin to explain how happy it makes me to see it.
